Over 2,000 Belizeans Benefit From Women's Economic Empowerment Initiative

(MENAFN- Caribbean News Global) BELMOPAN, Belize – The ministry of foreign affairs, in partnership with the embassy of the Republic of China (Taiwan) in Belize and the Taiwan International Cooperation and Development Fund (Taiwan ICDF), announces the successful conclusion of its four-year Women's Economic Empowerment initiative. Since its signing on October 13, 2021, the programme has positively impacted over 2,000 participants through 63 projects, equipping women with vital vocational skills and entrepreneurial knowledge.

Over the course of the initiative, 43 batches of vocational training were conducted, cultivating skills in 1,017 women, while 21 batches of entrepreneurship incubation counselling fostered the creation of 360 new startups. In addition, counselling was provided to 55 micro, small, and medium enterprises to strengthen their economic resilience. The programme also enhanced the functionality of the Entrepreneurship Incubation Centre, establishing a mobile incubation unit and expanding the scope of counselling services.

To celebrate these achievements, a ceremony was hosted featuring more than 45 women entrepreneurs who showcased their businesses, innovative ideas, and skills acquired through the programme. These participants stand as living proof of the initiative's transformative impact on women's independence and economic stability. The ministry expresses its sincere appreciation to the Government and people of the Republic of China (Taiwan) for their steadfast partnership and commitment to empowering women in Belize.

As a result of the project, the catalogue Made by HER, dedicated exclusively to women entrepreneurs, has been launched. This publication captures success stories from every district, showcasing the innovation of women whose enterprises have thrived through this initiative.

Designed as both a promotional platform and a directory, Made by HER highlights the diverse products and services offered by Belizean women. It will serve as a valuable resource for citizens and visitors, connecting them directly. To ensure visibility, the catalogue will be displayed at the Philip Goldson International Airport and distributed across Belize's diplomatic missions worldwide.

As the project officially concludes on December 31, 2025, Belize celebrates the extraordinary achievements of its women entrepreneurs, whose dedication and innovation continue to pave the way toward sustainable economic growth and empowerment.
