High-Level Committee Probing Nowgam Blast: JKP

Srinagar- Jammu and Kashmir Police on Thursday dismissed circulating social media posts about the accidental blast at Police Station Nowgam, terming the claims“conjectures” aimed at misleading the public.
Police said the blast took place on 14 November 2025 during the process of sample collection from a large cache of recovered explosives. The procedure was being carried out by experts from the Forensic Science Laboratory when the accidental detonation occurred.
Refuting the unverified posts being shared online, police said several social media claims were based on speculation and intended to mislead people. The statement urged the public not to circulate unverified information and to rely only on official updates.
ADVERTISEMENTPolice said the Government of Jammu and Kashmir has already constituted a high-level committee on 16 November to investigate the incident. The committee is headed by the Principal Secretary, Home Department, and includes the Inspector General of Police Kashmir Zone, the District Magistrate Srinagar and a senior scientist from the Central Forensic Science Laboratory of the Government of India.
