Agriculture Minister, German Delegation Talk Cooperation, Projects

Amman, Nov. 20 (Petra) – Minister of Agriculture, Dr. Saeb Khraisat, Thursday received Head of Economic Development at the German Embassy,??Ignace Lukas, the Director of the German Development Bank (KfW) in Amman, Dr. Matthias Schmidt-Rosen, and the Senior Coordinator at KfW – Amman, Dr. Assia AlDhabbi.
The meeting addressed cooperation aspects between the Ministry of Agriculture and KfW.
Talking at the meeting, Khraisat expressed his gratitude to the German government for its continued support to Jordan and particularly the Ministry of Agriculture.
Khraisat also discussed with the German delegation the progress of the "Green Jobs" project, which the Ministry is implementing with KfW's support.
The project, valued at €14.5 million, will run for four years and aims to create 3,000 job opportunities through a "Cash for Work" program.
To ensure success, Khraisat called for overcoming any obstacles that might hinder the project's implementation to fulfill its goals.
In turn, the German delegation members commended the ongoing cooperation with the ministry in implementing the project, calling for adhering to the timeline and highlighting the bank's experience in "successfully" carrying out previous projects with the Ministry of Agriculture.
According to a ministry statement, the two sides discussed future cooperation prospects with the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, mainly in the??food systems area, in line with the priorities of the Economic Modernization Vision for the Kingdom's agricultural sector.
