(MENAFN) US President Donald Trump and Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman formalized a series of agreements on Tuesday, covering a wide spectrum of bilateral matters, ranging from military collaboration to civilian nuclear technology.

According to the White House, the accords are designed to "deepen the U.S.-Saudi strategic partnership, expand opportunities for high-paying American jobs, strengthen critical supply chains, and reinforce regional stability—all while putting American workers, industry, and security first."

Earlier, Bin Salman revealed that the Kingdom has increased a previous pledge made in May to invest $600 billion in the United States, now bringing the total commitment close to $1 trillion—a major request from the US president ahead of their meeting on Tuesday.

On his part, Trump agreed to supply Saudi Arabia with what he described as "top of the line" F-35 stealth fighter aircraft. The White House did not disclose the exact quantity of jets to be sold or their specific model, but confirmed they would be included in a "major defense sale package."

The defense accord, officials noted, "strengthens the U.S. defense industrial base and ensures Saudi Arabia continues to buy American." Reports indicated that Saudi Arabia had requested two dozen F-35 jets.

Details regarding the total cost of the deal or the other defense equipment involved were not released.

In addition, Trump and Bin Salman ratified an agreement on civil nuclear cooperation, laying the groundwork for a long-term nuclear energy partnership and "confirming that the United States and American companies will be the Kingdom’s civil nuclear cooperation partners of choice," as stated by the White House.
