Dr Phillip Baker is an Australian Research Council Future Fellow, and Sydney Horizon Fellow, at the School of Public Health, University of Sydney. His research focuses on understanding global food systems change, and the implications for human and planetary health. Recent topics have included the global rise of ultra-processed foods in human diets, the political economy of food systems, and the commercial determinants of infant and young child nutrition. He has regularly consulted to United Nations agencies on these topics, including a recent study funded by the World Health Organization on the political economy of infant and young child feeding. Dr Baker has taught high-enrolling units on food policy and regulation, and international nutrition, and currently supervises five PhD students on related topics.
