Macron Believes Peace In Ukraine Could Be Achieved By 2027

(MENAFN- UkrinForm) He stated this at a joint press conference with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in Paris on Monday, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.

"I hope that peace will be achieved by 2027. And I believe the past months have been marked by decisions that have become real turning points," Macron said.

He also recalled the sanctions imposed on Russia by Europe and the United States.

"For my part, I remain determined to achieve this peace. I believe it is necessary to continue increasing pressure, as we are doing through sanctions and by countering the shadow fleet that allows Russia to sell its oil and receive funding," Macron said.

According to Macron, the priority now is "to ensure that the Ukrainian army has its own defense capabilities to protect its airspace," which is exactly what the latest agreements with President Zelensky provide for.

Earlier, Presidents Zelensky and Macron discussed a reparations loan and the use of Russian assets to finance the European assistance package for Ukraine's defense.
