Turkey celebrates forty-two anniversary of founding of TRNC
(MENAFN) According to official statements, Türkiye on Saturday commemorated the 42nd anniversary of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), emphasizing the long-standing struggle of the Turkish Cypriot people for identity and sovereignty.
In a message shared on the Turkish social platform NSosyal, the Foreign Ministry marked the Nov. 15 milestone, declaring: “The most valuable manifestation of the sovereignty and existence struggle that Turkish Cypriots have waged since 1963, and the most important symbol of our national cause, is the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. We celebrate the 42nd anniversary of its founding.”
The ministry reiterated that Türkiye’s dedication to the Turkish Cypriot community remains firm, stating that “Motherland and guarantor Türkiye will always continue to stand by the Turkish Cypriot people and will maintain its constructive and determined efforts toward a just, lasting, and sustainable settlement of the Cyprus issue based on the realities on the island.”
It further noted the sense of unity felt on this anniversary, adding: “On this honorable day, we share the pride and enthusiasm of the Turkish Cypriots, who are an inseparable part of the Great Turkish Nation.”
The announcement also recalled the influential leaders who shaped the community’s decades-long quest for autonomy and security. It acknowledged the enduring impact of the late Fazil Kucuk, a pivotal champion of Turkish Cypriot rights, as well as Rauf Raif Denktas, the first president of the TRNC.
Additionally, the ministry honored the memory of those who died while fighting for the cause and expressed profound gratitude to the veterans whose efforts helped shape the community’s path toward self-determination.
