Budgam- PDP candidate Aga Syed Muntazir on Friday said his victory in the Budgam assembly bypoll was a clear message from the people against the ruling National Conference (NC), asserting that voters rejected the party for failing to deliver on its promises.

Calling the mandate“historic,” Muntazir said the bypoll outcome was rooted in public frustration.
“This verdict is a protest against the NC for not fulfilling its political and developmental promises,” he told reporters after winning by nearly 4,500 votes.

He said the win reflected long-standing resentment within the constituency.
“This is the result of 50 years of hard work. Budgam's vote will now get true representation,” he said.
“This is an answer to the NC for neglecting the people of Budgam in 2024.”

Muntazir added that the people had voted decisively for accountability.
“The people of Budgam have voted for change. This verdict will force the NC to fulfil the promises it made to the people of Jammu and Kashmir,” he said.

PDP leader Iltija Mufti echoed the sentiment, describing the outcome as the public rejecting“hollow promises.”
“This is the win of the people of Budgam,” she said.“They understood the NC had been given many chances. Muntazir will work for the people and serve them.”
