Unknown Drone Monitors Leclerc Tank Convoy In France
"The investigation concerns the deliberate flight of a drone over a restricted area and loitering in the restricted zone," the prosecutor's office stated.
They added that the focus will be on identifying the drone's pilot.
Police patrolling the area noticed the drone at around 23:00 and attempted to track it to the nearest Nord station, which is in a publicly inaccessible area. According to a military source, a Leclerc tank convoy returning from military exercises was stationed at this location.
In recent weeks, the number of drone incidents in France has increased. On Monday, an investigation was launched following an illegal flight over Bergerac above the Eurenco facility, which produces gunpowder for shells.
According to the prefecture, the flight was carried out using "a standard commercial drone, type DJI."
