Three Servicemen Detained For Attempting To Sell Half A Tonne Of Explosives
"Under the procedural guidance of prosecutors from the Office of the Prosecutor General, a colonel and two servicemen were exposed and detained on suspicion of trafficking explosive materials and ammunition," the statement says.
The suspects attempted to sell more than 500 kg of plastic explosive, as well as 22 blocks of plastid (over 11 kg), 7 grenades, and detonation cord. The Office of the Prosecutor General estimates the total value of the shipment at $88,000.
In addition, searches of the detainees uncovered military-grade weapons and munitions: an assault rifle, a submachine gun, more than 2,000 rounds of ammunition, grenades of various types, rounds for a grenade launcher, and a container with a rocket.
