S. Korea’s Leader Public Support Dips to 67.8 Percent
(MENAFN) Support for South Korean President Lee Jae-myung declined by 1.3 percentage points over the past week, settling at 67.8 percent, new polling data revealed Monday.
Disapproval of Lee's governmental performance climbed 2.0 percentage points to reach 31.2 percent, based on computer assisted telephone interviewing (CATI) conducted by local polling firm Flower Research.
The governing liberal Democratic Party saw its backing rise 0.7 percentage points to 55.3 percent, while the conservative opposition People Power Party experienced a 0.4 percentage point increase to 28.9 percent.
Both the minor left-leaning Rebuilding Korea Party and the minor rightist New Reform Party registered 2.3 percent support during the week.
A separate automated response system (ARS) survey by the same pollster indicated Lee's approval climbed 2.1 percentage points to 64.6 percent compared to the prior week.
Both polling methodologies surveyed 1,007 registered voters between Friday and Saturday, carrying a margin of error of plus or minus 3.1 percentage points at a 95 percent confidence level.
