GCC Pays Much Heed To Tourism - Chief


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) RIYADH, Nov 9 (KUNA) -- Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Jasem Al-Budaiwi said on Sunday that GCC member states attach much attention to tourism and related sectors.
Al-Budaiwi made the statement following participation in the official opening of the 26th UN Tourism General Assembly in Riyadh, pointing out the pivotal role of tourism in economic growth and diversification of income sources.
The GCC chief underlined that the GCC is committed to developing advanced infrastructure and upgrading the quality of services in the tourism sector in a way that keeps abreast of rapid transformations in this vital sector, and contributes to promoting the Gulf as a key world destination.
He commended Saudi Arabia's hosting of this event as reflecting the kingdom's significant initiatives aiming at promoting joint international action and establishing a prosperous and sustainable tourism system. (end)
