Car Crash in Eastern Myanmar Claims Five Lives


(MENAFN) Five individuals lost their lives and twelve others sustained injuries in a vehicular accident in Shan state, located in eastern Myanmar, on Sunday, according to an official from the Myanmar Fire Services Department.

The crash took place at approximately 1:20 p.m. local time after the car's brakes malfunctioned, causing the vehicle to tumble into a roadside ditch in Kalaw township, the official reported.

Among the 17 passengers, two males and three females died, while six males and six females were hurt, he stated.

The car had been traveling from Taunggyi to Mandalay when the mishap occurred, the official mentioned.

Emergency personnel from the local fire service and rescue teams promptly arrived at the location, transporting both the deceased and the injured to Kalaw People's Hospital, he added.
