Kuwait Health Min. Discusses Enhancing Cooperation With Global Fund Chief

KUWAIT, Nov 4 (KUNA) -- Kuwait's Minister of Health Dr. Ahmad Al-Awadhi, met on Tuesday with Roslyn Morauta Chair of the Global Fund Board to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, and her accompanying delegation to discuss ways to enhance cooperation and support global humanitarian efforts to combat transboundary infectious diseases.
In a press statement, the Ministry said that the two sides also discussed strengthening partnerships and improving international health programs aimed at eradicating AIDS, tuberculosis, and malaria, and achieving universal health coverage in line with the Sustainable Development Goals.
Al-Awadhi affirmed Kuwait's commitment to supporting international health initiatives with a humanitarian impact on protecting lives and improving quality of life, and praised the pivotal role played by the Global Fund in supporting health systems and strengthening the capacities of low- and middle-income countries to combat epidemic diseases.
For her part, Morauta expressed her appreciation for Kuwait's role in global humanitarian health initiatives and its developmental and humanitarian contributions, which have had a tangible impact on saving lives and improving the health of communities in various countries around the world.
The meeting comes within the framework of the Health Ministry's keenness to strengthen international partnerships and consolidate cooperation with leading global organizations in support of Kuwait's efforts to continue its humanitarian and pioneering role regionally and internationally and contributes to establishing a health system concerned with protecting and preserving human health.
