Empowered Voices On Screen: Day One Of EU Youth Short Film Festival 2025

Doha, Qatar: The EU Youth Short Film Festival 2025 opens on November 24 at Doha Sands Beach, with its first evening dedicated to the theme“Women in Focus: Empowerment Through Storytelling.”

This inspiring night celebrates the creative power of women and the stories that challenge perspectives, inspire change, and showcase resilience. Through diverse cinematic lenses from Europe and Qatar, the films highlight the journeys of women discovering strength, identity, and purpose.

The lineup features nine outstanding short films:

· Pema by Victoria Neto (France) – a heartfelt exploration of identity and mental health.

· Fragile by Kholoud Al Ali (Qatar) – a poetic story of self-discovery and transformation.

· Valeria by Sara Jurinčić (Croatia) – an experimental documentary weaving the voices of generations of women.

· We Will Keep Swaying by Jannat Malik (Pakistan, a student at Northwestern University in Qatar) – documenting Kathak dancers reclaiming art and identity.

· B-Girls by Hilarija Ločmele (Germany) – a spirited celebration of teamwork and inclusion through women's football.

· Jump! by Michał Cysewski (Poland) – a moving tale of courage and rediscovering passion.

· Polio & Prejudice by Mahnoor Naveed (Pakistan – a student at Northwestern University in Qatar) – a brave story of activism in the world's most complex regions.

· AirHostess-737 by Thanasis Neofotistos (Greece) – a surreal journey through grief and reconciliation.

· You Only Have One Life by Afreem Yousuf (Pakistan – Short Films by Shorties Program) – a reminder of balance and self-worth in modern life.

The festival will also feature Best Picture, Best Screenplay, and Best Emerging Filmmaker awards, honouring excellence in storytelling, artistic merit, and social impact.
