 Kuwait Amiri Diwan Min. Hosts Luncheon For Oxford Centre Chief

KUWAIT, Nov 3 (KUNA) -- Kuwaiti Minister of Amiri Diwan Affairs Sheikh Hamad Jaber Al-Ali Al-Sabah on Monday hosted a luncheon banquet at Al-Salam Palace in honor of Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies, Turki Al-Faisal bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud, Vice Chairman of the Board Sultan Nazrin Shah Ibni Sultan Azlan Muhibbuddin Shah.
Thd banquet was also attended by board members, including Sheikh Dr. Mohammad Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah, Dr. Abdullah Gul, Director General of the Kuwait Direct Investment Promotion Authority (KDIPA) Sheikh Dr. Meshaal Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, Dr. Raja Easa Al-Gurg, Director of the Centre Dr. Farhan Nizami, and Dr. Basel Mustafa.
Director General of the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences (KFAS) Dr. Amina Rajab Farhan and several senior KFAS officials also attended the banquet.
The guests made a tour of Al-Salam Palace Museum, including contents, documents and photos that reflect significant aspects of Kuwait's history, state evolution, figures, institutions and national heritage.
Sheikh Hamad Jaber Al-Ali Al-Sabah underlined that that Kuwait attaches a paramount significance to international academic institutions and research centers, primarily Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies, only out of its firm belief that investment in knowledge and enlightenment as a key aspect of the State's responsibility towards its present and future.
He noted that Al-Salam Palace Museum has now become one of the national cultural landmarks meant to chronicle the modern state's history, evolution and humanitarian and diplomatic role.
The minister added that the museum does not only contain historic antiquities, but it also plays a deeper role in keeping the general state memory and conveying it to present and coming generations in an orderly fashion, as well as giving documented material to scholars and those interested in Kuwaiti affairs, raising the society's awareness of the country's history and responsibilities.
