Call To Protect Journalists In War Zones
The seminar was attended by a considerable number of editors in chief of Qatari newspapers, some of the families of the martyred Al Jazeera journalists, some of the journalists injured during their work in conflict zones, alongside their families and representatives of the local and international partners of Aljazeera Center including the Unesco, the UN Human Rights Office, The National Human Rights Committee, Qatar Press Center, and the International Committee of the Red blade-->
Editor-in-Chief of Gulf Times Faisal Abdulhameed al-Mudahka took part in the seminar. He said that there should be an effective and practical mechanism to enhance the protection of journalists, in particular at the conflict blade-->
Besides, he stressed the importance of the collaborative efforts of the parties concerned to take the necessary legal actions against those who threaten the lives of journalists to act as a deterrent and help improve the safety of the news reporting environment.
The seminar was held on the International Day to End Impunity for Crimes against Journalists, held on November 2.
Through this seminar, the centre shed more light on the dear price paid by many journalists for reporting the truth and stressed the need for prosecuting the perpetrators of crimes against mediapersons.
