Train Mass Stabbing Leaves Nine with Critical Injuries in UK

(MENAFN) British Transport Police confirmed in the early hours of Sunday that a knife rampage aboard a passenger train has left nine individuals critically wounded.

"Ten people have been taken to hospital following a multiple stabbing on a train in Cambridgeshire. Nine are believed to have suffered life-threatening injuries," British Transport Police (BTP) announced via X, the US social media platform.

Though no deaths have been recorded thus far, authorities have activated a "major incident" protocol and revealed that counterterrorism specialists will join the ongoing investigation.

Law enforcement has taken two suspects into custody.

"We are currently responding to an incident on a train to Huntingdon where multiple people have been stabbed," BTP posted earlier on X.

The agency confirmed officers were deployed to the scene working in coordination with Cambridgeshire police forces.

BTP subsequently identified the targeted service as the 6.25 pm GMT train traveling from Doncaster to London King's Cross.

Prime Minister Keir Starmer described the violence as "appalling" and "deeply concerning."

"My thoughts are with all those affected, and my thanks go to the emergency services for their response," he posted on X, while advising local residents to comply with police directives.

In the incident's aftermath, London North Eastern Railway issued travel warnings stating that trains could face cancellations or delays extending up to one hour on select routes due to the stabbing attack.
