Potash Company, German Firm CEC Sign Engineering Services Contract For Third Cold Crystallization Unit
(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency)
Amman, Oct. 30 (Petra)-- Chief Executive Officer of the Arab Potash Company (APC), Ma'en Nsour, and CEO of CEC (Germany), George Engelmann, today signed an engineering services agreement to design the company's third cold crystallization plant, one of the key components of APC's Southern Expansion Project.
This project is part of the company's ongoing efforts to increase potash production, with the new plant expected to raise total output by one million tons annually a 30% increase by 2030 thereby strengthening APC's position in the global fertilizer market.
The project also includes the construction of a new compaction plant, loading stations, and storage facilities designed to be connected to the planned railway network linking the company's plants in Ghor Al-Safi with its warehouses in Aqaba. This linkage will enhance the company's supply chain and export efficiency.
Chairperson of the Board, Shihada Abu Hdeib, expressed pride in signing the agreement with CEC, describing it as "a new milestone" in the implementation of APC's Southern Expansion Project, which was launched in May this year under the patronage of Prime Minister Dr. Jaafar Hassan. He highlighted that the project is one of the largest industrial undertakings in Jordan.
Abu Hdeib emphasized that the project reflects APC's commitment to enhancing its production capacity and global competitiveness through investments in operational efficiency and adherence to the highest quality standards.
He added that the company continues to pursue its strategy to maximize the added value of national resources, contribute to the national economy, and create sustainable employment opportunities.
He noted that in recent years, APC has expanded its export markets while maintaining a strong presence in traditional ones, and launched a series of development projects that improved operational efficiency and production capacity. Thanks to these efforts, APC has cemented its position as a national industrial leader in potash and fertilizers, and as a key contributor to Jordan's economy and industrial advancement both regionally and internationally.
For his part, Ma'en Nsour, CEO of the Arab Potash Company, said the signing of the engineering services agreement for the third cold crystallization plant marks a cornerstone in implementing APC's Southern Expansion projects. He explained that this comes as part of the company's long-term plan, launched in 2019, to increase potash output by 30% by 2030.
Nsour noted that the new plant will bring a qualitative leap in product quality, thanks to its design based on cutting-edge global technologies in crystallization, drying, and compaction processes. This will ensure high-purity potash production that meets the strictest quality standards.
He added that the project will strengthen APC's ability to meet the needs of the most demanding international markets, support its move toward high-value-added derivative industries, and help diversify its product range, maximize returns, and achieve sustainable export growth.
Nsour affirmed that APC is implementing its projects according to the highest environmental, technical, and operational sustainability standards, relying on the expertise of its Jordanian workforce and strategic partnerships with leading global companies.
Meanwhile, George Engelmann, CEO of CEC, expressed pride in partnering with the Arab Potash Company on this landmark industrial project, confirming CEC's commitment to designing the plant and supporting systems in line with the highest quality standards and latest technologies to ensure safe operations and sustainable production of high-purity potash.
Engelmann added that this cooperation reflects international confidence in Jordan's investment climate and highlights APC's distinguished standing in the global potash and fertilizer industry.
