Phil Johnstone is Visiting Professor in sociotechnical change and sustainability at the University of Tartu, Postdoctoral Researcher at Utrecht University, and Visiting Fellow at the University of Sussex. Phil's interests address the political-economic and democratic implications of sustainability transitions and science and technology policy. He has researched and published widely on a range of topics including Deep Transitions, the role of the state in sustainability, militaries, shocks, wars and sociotechnical change, and the governance of discontinuation and phase out. He has a long-standing interest in energy policy including nuclear power and the civil-military dynamics of nuclear past and present. Together with colleagues, he has contributed to journal articles, governmental inquiries, and media coverage related to nuclear developments in the UK and elsewhere.
