Vance allegedly asks Israeli PM to give Gaza truce ‘a chance’
(MENAFN) During his official visit to Israel, US Vice President JD Vance reportedly urged Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to give the Gaza ceasefire agreement “a chance.”
As stated by reports citing both US and Israeli sources, Vance told Netanyahu: "Give the deal a chance and give us time to make things happen.” In response, Netanyahu expressed willingness to allow the agreement to move forward. “I also want to see the agreement succeed,” he said, according to officials familiar with the discussion.
An American official present at the meeting noted that Netanyahu appeared receptive to Vance’s emphasis on maintaining the ceasefire and progressing with the next steps of the agreement.
The US administration is reportedly working to gather economic, military, and diplomatic backing from Arab nations for both the international force intended for Gaza and a peace council aimed at funding the territory’s reconstruction.
Vance’s meeting with Netanyahu took place on Wednesday in West Jerusalem, forming part of his official visit to the country.
