NU-Q Students Advocate For Children Affected By Armed Conflict

(MENAFN- Gulf Times) The Analysis and Outreach Hub of the Office of the Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Children and Armed Conflict (OSRSG CAAC), based in Doha, concluded a collaboration with students from Northwestern University in Qatar ( NU-Q) aimed at raising awareness of the impact of armed conflict on children.
Three workshops were held with students to present the Children and Armed Conflict mandate and explore ways to communicate about it.
Afterward, NU-Q students Hamad al-Jaffali and Hyemin Cho were selected to produce compelling visual materials about the grave violations identified by the United Nations Security Council, specifically on the recruitment and use of children in armed conflict, which remains one of the most persistent and widespread threats facing children in conflict zones.
The students produced short videos that highlight the experiences of children forced into armed conflict through thoughtful design and visuals. The materials will be featured on the official communication platforms of the OSRSG CAAC, including its website and social media, and used during key advocacy and policy events globally.
To mark the conclusion of the project, the Analysis and Outreach Hub organised a showcase in Doha for the students' work, accompanied by a presentation of certificates and tokens of gratitude. The event also highlighted the power of youth-driven creative advocacy in supporting international efforts to protect children in conflict.
