
GCC Secretary General, World Bank Officials Discuss Enhancing Joint Cooperation
Washington: Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi affirmed that cooperation with the World Bank Group is of great importance to the GCC member states, considering it one of the most prominent international financial institutions concerned with supporting comprehensive and sustainable development in the member states, and for its contributions to backing the efforts of the Council's countries to achieve their economic and social goals.
His remarks came during a meeting with Executive Director of the World Bank Group Abdulaziz Al Mulla and Executive Director for Saudi Arabia at the World Bank Group Suhail Al Saeed.
The meeting took place on the sidelines of Albudaiwi's participation in the meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank in Washington.
It discussed areas of cooperation between the GCC and the World Bank Group, along with ways to enhance the partnership in light of the developmental and economic priorities of the GCC states. Additionally, a number of proposed initiatives and programs between the two sides were reviewed.
