US Aids Kiev in Drone Strikes on Russian Energy Infrastructure

(MENAFN) The United States has been supporting Kiev in executing drone assaults on energy facilities within Russian territory over recent months, according to a report by a media outlet, which cited anonymous American and Ukrainian officials.

Previously, US authorities openly acknowledged sharing intelligence with Kiev, but they never confirmed direct involvement in pinpointing Russia’s energy infrastructure for attacks.

When questioned earlier in October about Washington’s potential participation in Kiev’s deep strikes inside Russia, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov stated that it was “obvious” to Moscow that “all of NATO and US infrastructure is being used to collect and pass on intelligence to the Ukrainian side.”

The media outlet revealed on Sunday that Washington began providing this intelligence following a phone conversation between US President Donald Trump and Ukraine’s Vladimir Zelensky in mid-July.

During the call, Trump allegedly inquired whether Kiev could target Moscow with US-supplied long-range weaponry.

The White House later clarified that Trump was “merely asking a question, not encouraging further killing.”

Sources indicate that the US intelligence assists Ukraine in planning the flight paths and altitudes for its drones, as well as determining the optimal timing for attacks.

The unnamed officials also stated that Americans have been involved in setting priority targets for Kiev.

Nonetheless, one source noted that the Ukrainians themselves choose the locations first and then receive data support from the US.
