Trump Declares Gaza Conflict "Over" Before Middle East Visit

(MENAFN) US President Donald Trump proclaimed that the conflict in Gaza “is over” during a conversation with journalists shortly after boarding Air Force One on Sunday for a journey to Israel.

Trump is scheduled to deliver a speech to the nation's parliament and hold meetings with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, as well as with the relatives of the hostages seized on October 7, 2023.

Following this, leaders from over 20 nations will gather alongside the US president in Egypt for a summit focused on Gaza’s future.

Nevertheless, officials from Israel and the Palestinian militant group Hamas will not participate in this assembly.

”The war is over. Okay? You understand that?” Trump stated when questioned about his confidence that the hostilities between Israel and Hamas have concluded.

During his trip to the area, Trump will be joined by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, among numerous other senior government officials.

“Everyone is very enthusiastic about this moment. This is an extraordinary occasion…Everyone is celebrating simultaneously. That has never happened before,” he told reporters.

Based on the agreement revealed by Trump in late September, all 48 remaining Israeli hostages, whether alive or deceased, will be retrieved from the Gaza enclave.

The Israeli military anticipates receiving the surviving hostages around 8 a.m. on Monday from three locations within Gaza.
