(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) MOSCOW, Oct 11 (KUNA) -- Russia's Security Council Deputy Chairman Dmitry Medvedev said Saturday that Moscow will honor its commitments to North Korea under their strategic partnership agreement.
He made the remarks during talks in Pyongyang with North Korean Leader Kim Jong-un on expanding bilateral cooperation, noting Russian President Vladimir Putin's strong focus on ties with Pyongyang, said Kremlin in a press release.
Russia values Kim's decisions to advance relations and called North Korea's support for Russia's "special military operation" highly important, in reference to the participation of North Korean soldiers in the Russia-Ukraine war, Medvedev said.
Kim handed Medvedev a historic letter from founder Kim II-sung to the late Soviet leader Joseph Stalin, underscoring deep historical links.
Medvedev arrived in Pyongyang with a United Russia party delegation at the invitation of the Workers' Party of Korea's (WPK) Central Committee to attend the party's 80th anniversary celebrations on October 10.
WPK was officially founded on October 10, 1945, following the creation of the North Korean Branch Bureau (NKBB) of the Communist Party of Korea (CPK). (end)
