Arab-Brazilian Chamber, FHC Foundation To Partner
The Vice President of Marketing of the ABCC, Silvia Antibas, presented the cultural projects carried out by the institution, highlighting two in particular: the cataloging and documentation of objects donated to the ABCC, and the Arab Immigration Memory Digitization Project in Brazil, conducted in partnership with Holy Spirit University of Kaslik in Lebanon. In this project, individuals and institutions with collections related to Arab immigration to Brazil lend their documents to the ABCC for digitization, receiving the originals back along with a digital copy as a token of appreciation.
The FHC Foundation has established partnerships in areas such as collections, cataloging, and documentation. At the meeting, it presented its volunteer program, as well as its process for documenting and receiving donated collections.
Recently, the institution received archives related to Gustavo Franco's tenure as head of the Central Bank (1997–1999) and former Health Minister José Serra (1998–2002). It already holds archives of former President Fernando Henrique Cardoso, former Education Minister Paulo Renato Souza (1995–2002), former Communications Minister Sergio Motta (1995–1998), economist Edmar Bacha, and anthropologist and Fernando Henrique's former wife, Ruth Cardoso, forming a collection focused on the recent history of Brazil.
Fernando Henrique Cardoso is the honorary president of the foundation. He served as President of Brazil from 1995 to 2002. Previously, he was a senator, Minister of Foreign Affairs (1992–1993), and Minister of Finance (1993–1994), during which time the Real Plan was created alongside economists such as Edmar Bacha, resulting in the launch of Brazil's currency, the Real, on July 1, 1994.
The meeting was also attended by the ABCC Secretary-General and International Relations Vice President Mohamad Orra Mourad and Institutional Relations Director Fernanda Baltazar.
