Panama's President Mulino Congratulates María Corina Machado On The 2025 Nobel Peace Prize -
The President of the Republic of Panama, José Raúl Mulino, joined in all of the congratulating involving Venezuelan political leader María Corina Machado, who was awarded the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize this Friday.
Through his social media accounts, the Panamanian president expressed:“On behalf of Panama and all Panamanians, we congratulate the designation of @MariaCorinaYA as the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize Laureate. Without a doubt, it is a recognition of her peaceful struggle at the head of a people fighting for their freedom. A great triumph!”
Machado Says the Nobel Peace Prize Is An Achievement And Recognition For all of Venezuela.
“This is an achievement for all of society. I'm just one person, I don't deserve it,” Machado said in a telephone conversation released by the Nobel Foundation, in which he called the award“the greatest recognition for our people.”
Mireya Moscoso highlights the value of María Corina Machado's Nobel Prize.

Meanwhile, former Panamanian President Mireya Moscoso also joined the reactions to the announcement of the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize awarded to María Corina Machado. In a public statement, Moscoso expressed her admiration for the Venezuelan opposition leader: “As a woman and a Panamanian who has closely witnessed María Corina's courage, bravery, and perseverance, I value this award as recognition of her cause: democracy in Venezuela.” Moscoso, who was the first woman to hold the presidency of Panama (1999-2004), has maintained close ties with democratic leaders in the region and has been a consistent critic of authoritarian regimes in Latin America.
Machado's Appointment By The Committee
The official announcement was made by the Norwegian Nobel Committee in Oslo, where it was reported that Machado was recognized“for her tireless work in promoting the democratic rights of the Venezuelan people and for her struggle to achieve a just and peaceful transition from dictatorship to democracy,” according to the prize's official website. The Nobel Institute also highlighted that the opposition leader“has been forced to live in hiding” since 2024 and that, despite serious threats to her life,“she has remained in the country, a decision that has inspired millions of people.” Likewise, her role in uniting opposition forces in Venezuela, a country ruled by Nicolás Maduro since 2012, was highlighted:“She has never hesitated to resist the militarization of Venezuelan society and has remained steadfast in her support for a peaceful transition to democracy,” the committee noted. Machado thus becomes the first Venezuelan to receive the Nobel Peace Prize, in recognition of her commitment to democratic values and human rights in her country.
Trump Says María Corina Machado Was“Very Kind” to Dedicate the Nobel Peace Prize to him
U.S. President Donald Trump said Friday that Venezuelan opposition leader María Corina Machado was“very kind” when she dedicated the Nobel Peace Prize to him, a prize he also aspired to win. “The person who received the Nobel Prize today called me and said, 'I'm accepting this in your honor because you really deserved it.' It was a very kind thing for her to do,” Trump said at a press conference at the White House. The president said, laughing, that he didn't ask for the award:“I didn't say, 'Give it to me.'” “She was very kind. And I've been helping her the whole time. She needs a lot of help. There's a disaster in Venezuela,” he noted.
Trump also reiterated his claim that he has successfully ended eight wars, including the one in Gaza, after Israel and Hamas agreed to a ceasefire and the release of hostages under his proposed peace plan just one day before the Norwegian Nobel Committee announced this year's winner. “I'm happy because I saved millions of lives, many millions of lives,” he declared. Machado, who received the award for“her tireless work promoting democratic rights for the people of Venezuela,” dedicated the prize in an English-language message published in X:“I dedicate this award to the long-suffering people of Venezuela and to President Trump for his determined support of our cause!”
The president often claims to have resolved, in addition to the Gaza war, seven other conflicts: Cambodia-Thailand, Kosovo-Serbia, Democratic Republic of Congo-Rwanda, Pakistan-India, Israel-Iran, Egypt-Ethiopia, and Armenia-Azerbaijan. Trump had been hoping to win the Nobel Peace Prize, especially since it was won in 2009 by then-President Barack Obama, someone the Republican believed was unworthy of the award. The White House criticized the Nobel Committee on Friday for“putting politics before peace.” “President Trump will continue to advance peace agreements, end wars, and save lives,” said Steven Cheung, White House Communications Director.
