EU Welcomes Gaza Ceasefire Plan, Urges Swift Implementation
(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA))
BRUSSELS, Oct 10 (KUNA) -- EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs Kaja Kallas said Friday that the European Union welcomes the first phase of the Comprehensive Plan to End the Gaza Conflict proposed by US President Donald Trump, aimed at achieving an immediate ceasefire and releasing all hostages.
Kallas noted that all parties, including the government of the Israeli occupation, have agreed to the plan, urging its full and immediate implementation to secure a lasting truce and ensure large-scale humanitarian access across Gaza.
She praised US led diplomatic efforts supported by Egypt, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Turkiye, and the UAE, describing the deal as "a real chance to end the devastating war and civilian suffering" and to revive a political path toward lasting peace based on the two-state solution.
Kallas affirmed the EU's readiness to assist in implementing the plan, deliver humanitarian aid in coordination with the UN and NGOs, and support Gaza's stabilization and reconstruction including through the activation of its two missions under the Common Security and Defense Policy namely the EU Border Assistance Mission at Rafah (EUBAM Rafah) and the EU Police Mission for the Palestinian Territories (EUPOL COPPS) in Ramallah.
She reiterated the EU's continued backing for the Palestinian Authority and its reform efforts. (end)
