'Trump Solves Complex Problems': Putin Reacts As US Prez Missed Out On Nobel Peace Prize, Says 'Award Lost Credibility'

(MENAFN- Live Mint) Russian President Vladimir Putin reacted to President Donald Trump missing out on the Nobel Peace Prize 2025, stating that the POTUS "solves complex problems, crises that last for decades.”

“This award lost credibility. The committee discussed the prize for people who have done nothing for the world," said Vladimir Putin.

Later, Trump thanked the Russian president for praising his peace efforts.

Venezuela's Maria Corina Machado was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for 2025 – putting an end to speculations that Trump could bag the award.

Machado's award comes in the wake of US President Donald Trump repeatedly claiming in the past few months that he should be awarded the Nobel prize for“helping” stop“seven wars.”

Trump, however, missed out on the honour.

Why Trump did not get the Nobel Peace Prize?

The chairperson of the Nobel committee, Jørgen Watne Frydnes, was asked during the announcement of the 2025 peace prize winner why Donald Trump was not considered for the same, to which he replied,“This committee sits in a room filled with the portraits of all laureates, and that room is filled with both courage and integrity.”

White House reacts to Trump missing out on Nobel prize

The Nobel Committee's decision to award the Peace Prize to Venezuela's Maria Corina Machado instead of Trump drew a sharp rebuke from the White House, which accused the panel of“choosing politics over peace. In a strongly worded statement, it said the President would stay focused on“making peace deals, ending wars, and saving lives,” despite the perceived snub.

White House spokesperson Steven Cheung said in a post on X,“President Trump will continue making peace deals, ending wars, and saving lives. He has the heart of a humanitarian, and there will never be anyone like him who can move mountains with the sheer force of his will.”

Can the US oppose Machado's win?

As per experts, Trump will have a hard time arguing against the Nobel committee's decision since the US government has itself been critical of the current Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro.

“The democratic opposition of Venezuela is something that the US has been eager to support. So, in that sense, it would be hard for anyone to constitute this as an insult to Trump,” Halvard Leira, research director at the Norwegian Institute of International Affairs, told Reuters.
