Ukrainian assaults result in six deaths in Russian villages
(MENAFN) Six civilians died overnight in Ukrainian attacks on Russia’s Belgorod and Kherson regions, according to officials, while the Russian Defense Ministry reported intercepting over 50 drones across multiple areas.
In Belgorod Region, Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov said two men and a young woman were killed when the village of Maslova Pristan was struck late Tuesday. “My most sincere and deepest condolences to the families struck by such terrible grief,” he wrote on social media. Nine women were also injured, four seriously, and seven people were hospitalized, with others treated at the scene or monitored locally.
The strikes partially destroyed a social facility and damaged two apartment buildings, tearing off roofs and shattering windows, balconies, and facades. Five vehicles were hit by shrapnel.
Residents reportedly avoided further casualties after an air-raid warning sounded before the impact.
In Kherson Region, Governor Vladimir Saldo reported three civilian deaths after Ukrainian shelling set two temporary housing buildings ablaze in the village of Zhelezny Port. A medical vehicle was damaged in Gornostayevka, but no injuries occurred, and a private home in Novaya Kakhovka caught fire and was later extinguished.
The Russian Defense Ministry said air defenses destroyed 53 Ukrainian drones between 11pm and 7am Moscow time, including 28 over Belgorod Region, 11 over Voronezh, and others across Rostov, Bryansk, and western areas.
Kiev has increasingly conducted drone strikes deep into Russian territory in recent months, targeting infrastructure and residential areas and causing civilian casualties. Russian authorities have condemned the attacks as “terrorism” and responded with strikes on Ukrainian military facilities.
