Tourists visit the Karnak Temple complex where recent research has revealed details about its origin and evolution. An open-air museum that sheds light on pharaonic history in Luxor, Egypt it is the second most visited ancient site in the Arab country after the Giza Pyramids. A study by Uppsala University shows that the complex was built on an island formed by ancient Nile River channels.
