KFAS, Qatar Foundation Discuss Boosting Partnership In Research, Innovation

KUWAIT, Oct 8 (KUNA) -- Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences (KFAS) announced Wednesday a high-level visit by a Qatar Foundation delegation led by Dr. Hilal Al-Ashwal, Advisor to the Chairperson for Research, Development and Innovation, aimed at strengthening strategic partnerships and exchanging expertise in scientific research, education and innovation.
KFAS said in a press statement the three-day visit included meetings with the Foundationآ's executive leadership and heads of its affiliated centers, where KFASآ' strategy to drive sustainable development through investment in science, research and innovation was reviewed.
The two sides discussed a proposed regional agreement to bolster cooperation among research entities in the State of Kuwait and the State of Qatar, exchange expertise and research plans in areas of mutual interest, and examine mechanisms to activate this cooperation.
The program included field visits to several research and academic centers, among them Sabah Al-Ahmad Center for Talent and Creativity, Abdullah Al-Salem University, The Scientific Center, Kuwait University, Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research, Dasman Diabetes Institute, in addition to Sadu House.
KFAS affirmed that cooperation with Qatar Foundation reflects a shared vision of investing in science and knowledge and lays the groundwork for a new phase of regional partnership in innovation, research and education.
The statement quoted Dr. Al-Ashwal as praising the progress he witnessed in Kuwaitآ's research and innovation ecosystem, affirming that synergy between the two institutions will help build a regional research network that benefits the wider region.
The visit concluded with a coordination meeting that agreed on preparing a joint work plan for the coming phase, to include shared research initiatives and co-developed development programs.(end)
