Ukrainian Missile Strike on Russia’s Belgorod Leaves Three Dead
(MENAFN) At least three people were killed and ten others injured when a Ukrainian missile struck a residential settlement in Russia’s Belgorod region, Russian officials said Wednesday.
The attack hit Maslova Pristan, a town located roughly 16 kilometers (10 miles) from the Ukrainian border, according to regional Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov. Emergency responders are currently transporting the wounded to hospitals in Belgorod city, he confirmed.
The missile strike caused severe damage to local infrastructure. “Residents say the missile warning signal helped them -- they managed to move away from the windows and take shelter in a safe place,” Gladkov said. He added that all affected residents will be relocated to temporary shelters.
A nearby social facility was partially destroyed, and two apartment buildings suffered extensive damage to their roofs, balconies, windows, and facades, the governor reported.
Gladkov had earlier placed the entire region under a temporary missile alert during the attack.
There has been no immediate response from Ukrainian authorities regarding the incident.
