Borsa Istanbul Starts Week with Decline


(MENAFN) Türkiye’s primary equity index began the new week with a noticeable downturn, concluding Monday at 10,734.87 points — a decrease of 1.14% from the previous trading session.

Opening at 10,884.87 points, the Borsa Istanbul BIST 100 index shed 123.65 points compared to Friday's final figure.

Throughout the day, the index fluctuated between a low of 10,706.05 and a peak of 10,928.38.

Among the 100 companies listed on the index, 24 recorded gains while 76 posted losses relative to the previous close.

The combined market capitalization of the BIST 100 stood at nearly 9.94 trillion Turkish liras (equivalent to $239.5 billion), with a daily transaction volume totaling 117.7 billion Turkish liras (approximately $2.82 billion).

As of 6:20 p.m. local time (1520GMT), the price of an ounce of gold was listed at "$3,952.40", and Brent crude oil was being sold at roughly "$65.25 per barrel".

Currency exchange rates at the same time showed the US dollar trading at 41.6930 Turkish liras, the euro at 48.8685 Turkish liras, and one British pound exchanging for 56.2450 Turkish liras.
