Trump: Ceasefire Will Take Effect When Hamas Approves Initial Withdrawal Line

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) WASHINGTON, Oct 4 (KUNA) -- US President Donald Trump said on Saturday that his plan for a ceasefire in the besieged Gaza Strip will take effect immediately upon Hamas's agreement to the initial withdrawal line of Israeli forces from Gaza.
"After the negotiations, Israel has agreed to the initial withdrawal line, which we have shown to and shared with Hamas," the US President wrote on Truth Social platform.
"When Hamas confirms, the Ceasefire will be IMMEDIATELY effective, the Hostages and Prisoner exchange will begin, and we will create the conditions for the next phase of withdrawal."
Earlier, Trump called on Hamas to move quickly as part of his proposal for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, warning that a delay could lead to the suspension of negotiations. Remarking that everyone will be treated fairly.
The US president late Friday called on the Israeli occupation to stop its bombing of Gaza following Hamas' positive response to his peace plan.
Hamas announced Friday that it had agreed to release all Israeli prisoners, both living and dead, according to the exchange formula outlined in the US President's proposal.
The plan seeks to turn Gaza into a weapons-free zone, with a transitional governance mechanism, and the release of all Israeli occupation prisoners and hundreds of Palestinian prisoners. (pick up previous)
