90,000 Doses Of Plague Vaccine Distributed In Faryab

MAIMANA (Pajhwok): About 90,000 doses of the small ruminant plague (PPR) vaccine have been distributed to veterinary clinics with financial support from the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) in northern Faryab province.

Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock Director Maulvi Jan Murad Waqar, told Pajhwok Afghan News the vaccines, provided by FAO, were distributed to 38 clinic officials across 19 administrative units of Faryab.

He said the officials have been tasked to travel to all villages and districts to provide the vaccines free of charge to livestock owners.

Sanaullah, head of the animal clinic in Almar district, said they will coordinate with district officials and travel village to village to vaccinate animals against the plague.

Similarly, Dr. Allah Gul from the Shirin Tagab district clinic explained the vaccines will mainly be administered to farmers who own small numbers of livestock.

However, he complained about the lack of transportation facilities in remote areas, noting that fuel prices have reached 80 afghanis per liter, and requested FAO and the agriculture department to consider this challenge.
