Power supply is restored at Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant

(MENAFN) Electricity has been fully restored at the decommissioned Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant after a strike on energy facilities in the nearby city of Slavutych, according to Ukraine’s energy minister.

Svitlana Hrynchuk confirmed late Wednesday that power had been reconnected to all units at the site, including the New Safe Confinement structure, which covers the plant’s destroyed reactor. She emphasized that radiation levels remain stable and do not endanger the public.

“Thanks to our energy workers for their lightning-fast and effective work! Your work is safety for all of Ukraine and Europe,” Hrynchuk said in a statement.

Earlier, officials reported that fluctuations in voltage had temporarily disrupted the power supply to the protective structure designed to prevent further radioactive releases from the damaged reactor.

Russia has not issued a response to the allegations, while independent verification remains limited due to the conflict.
