Israeli Occupation Threatens To Separate North Gaza From South

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) GAZA, Oct 1 (KUNA) -- The Israeli occupation army announced, on Wednesday, a decision to separate the northern Gaza Strip from its southern part via the coastal Al-Rashid Street, restricting movement of displaced persons.
In a press statement, it said movement would be one-way only from north to south, claiming that it aims to allow those unable to evacuate Gaza City to move towards the central and southern governorates.
Allegedly, the occupation forces will allow free movement from Gaza City to the south without searches before closure, but after closure, movement south will be subject to security measures and inspections.
This decision comes amid the ongoing invasion of main Gaza City neighborhoods by occupation forces under the military campaign named "Gideon's Chariots II," aiming to occupy Gaza City and destroy its buildings.
UNRWA estimates over half a million people live in Gaza City under harsh humanitarian conditions. (end)
