Zelensky: Russia Tests How Far It Can Go With Drone Attacks

(MENAFN- UkrinForm) He made the remarks during a virtual address at the Warsaw Security Forum , Ukrinform reports.

"The wave of drones against Poland on the night of September 10 was a test not only for Poland, but for all of NATO. Russian aircraft violated Estonian airspace, and new drone incidents in Northern Europe are yet another test for NATO. Overall, Russia is checking how far it can go," Zelensky said.

He noted that such actions by the aggressor also aim to divert attention from its brutal war against Ukraine.

"Then voices appear asking: is Ukraine receiving too much support, or perhaps Russia will calm down if attention to Ukraine is reduced? These are mistaken voices. Almost all security threats in Europe today stem from Russia's destructive actions, from the war that Putin refuses to end. Therefore, Ukraine is proposing to Poland and all our partners to build a joint, truly reliable shield against Russian aerial threats," he said.

Zelensky stressed that Ukraine is capable of countering all types of Russian drones and missiles. "If Russia loses the ability to strike from the air, it will not be able to continue the war," he said.

Last week unidentified drones were spotted in Denmark. Their appearance forced Copenhagen Airport to close for several hours on Monday evening. On Wednesday, new drones were observed over airports in western Denmark, leading to the closure of airspace over Aalborg Airport.

The Danish government called this a "hybrid attack," with investigators believing it was carried out by a professional operator with necessary skills.

Additionally, several unidentified drones flew over the southeastern German state of Schleswig-Holstein. The state's Ministry of the Interior is investigating the incidents for possible espionage or sabotage.

Vilnius Airport operations were also halted twice on Friday, September 26, due to drones. Furthermore, a drone was detected over the Valajaskoski hydroelectric plant near the Finnish city of Rovaniemi.
