Trump Alleges FBI's Role in Capitol Riots
(MENAFN) U.S. President Donald Trump has raised the possibility that ex-FBI Director Christopher Wray might be investigated for his connection to the January 6 Capitol unrest.
Trump also reiterated his previous assertions that hundreds of FBI agents were covertly stationed among the crowd during the incident.
Recently, a conservative publication published claims from an undisclosed congressional insider, stating that the FBI had positioned 274 undercover personnel during the Capitol chaos. This claim contradicts the FBI’s consistent denial of any such deployment.
In reaction to the report, Trump argued that these agents appeared to act more like provocateurs and rioters rather than officials carrying out law enforcement duties.
He asserted that Wray “has some major explaining to do.”
During a phone conversation with a news agency on Sunday, Trump criticized Wray’s behavior as “inappropriate” and hinted that the Justice Department might already be looking into the issue.
“I think Christopher Wray did a terrible job, and we just found out about it,” Trump stated.
He further remarked, “Over 200 people being embedded into that situation. It looks like real agitation… It’s a terrible thing that something like this could happen. It was a set-up – my opinion. But it was set up, and the FBI was involved.”
