Qatar Mediates Release Of US Citizen Detained In Afghanistan


(MENAFN- Gulf Times) Qatar announced that it facilitated the release of American citizen Amir Amiri, who had been detained in Afghanistan, adding that he is on his way to Doha and will depart for his country at a later date.
HE Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dr Mohammed bin Abdulaziz bin Saleh al-Khulaifi voiced Qatar's appreciation for the fruitful cooperation shown by both the Afghan caretaker government and the United States of America. He emphasised that Qatar always seeks to activate mediation efforts to find peaceful solutions to conflicts, disputes, and complex international issues, based on the principles of its foreign policy, which is based on consolidating the culture of dialogue as a strategic option to enhance security and stability at the regional and international levels.
He stressed that this step represents a significant incentive to encourage direct dialogue and strengthen communication channels between the parties, contributing to strengthening mutual understanding and creating a more positive atmosphere for addressing outstanding issues.
