New chairman gets elected for World Forum of CSDs


(MENAFN) Ekrem Arikan, the CEO as well as board member of the Central Securities Depository of Türkiye (MKK), has been chosen as the new chairman of the Board of the World Forum of Central Securities Depositories (WFC).

On Wednesday, according to the MKK, he became the new chairman at the 25th WFC meeting in Almaty, Kazakhstan, taking over from Yedil Medeu, who is the CEO of the Central Securities Depository of Kazakhstan.

For the next two years, the WFC will be led by Arikan, who has been chairman of the Association of Eurasian Central Securities Depositories (AECSD) since September 2023.

The MKK stated that the WFC, which was established in Cape Town in 2011 by consolidating five regional central securities depository organizations, the organization now unites depositories from across the globe.

Its duty is to make the exchange of information as well as experience easier, resolve common problems, as well as play a role in securing world market stability.

"I would like to thank the member associations, country representatives, and all our stakeholders who deemed me worthy of this position,” Arikan stated.
