Dead Sea, Sep. 24 (Petra) – Under patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Faisal bin Al Hussein, President of Jordan Olympic Committee (JOC), the committee on Wednesday held a Sports Safety Conference at King Hussein Bin Talal Convention Center in the Dead Sea, with "broad" participation from representatives of sports federations and relevant authorities.
The event featured four dialogue sessions that discussed key issues in the sports safety field, mainly mechanisms for implementing a safety strategy within Jordanian federations' annual plans and ways to build a safe environment within sports teams.
The dialogues also highlighted athletes' rights, reporting and support means, and role of media and technology in enhancing sports safety.
Talking at the conference, JOC Secretary-General Rana Al-Saeed said Jordan's Sports Safety Strategy represents a "pioneering" national initiative, aimed at protecting athletes and ensuring their physical and psychological well-being, in line with global trends led by the International Olympic Committee.
Al-Saeed added that the strategy embodies the JOC's vision for providing a "sustainable, safe, fair, and inclusive" sporting environment for all athletes in the Kingdom to ensure protection from all forms of abuse and violence, while promoting mental and physical health.
The conference also witnessed announcement of the visual identity for Jordan's Sports Safety Strategy, which reflects the JOC's efforts to provide a "safe" sporting environment for current and future generations.
Concluding activities, His Royal Highness Prince Faisal honored Jordan Football Association (JFA) and Jordan Athletics Federation (JAF) in appreciation of their efforts in implementing sports safety standards.
