Eliza Middleton

I began my career broadly interested in behavioural ecology, and have developed a specific emphasis on collective behaviour, communication and infrastructure resilience. Social insects are an incredibly diverse and interesting group of animals that showcase amazing efficiency and adaptation to challenges faced in their environment. From building transportation networks that can be redirected or rebuilt after a disturbance, to the developmental flexibility of honey bee growth, this area of research has so much potential and provides a wealth of opportunity to learn.

I am keen on furthering my multi-disciplinary connections to researchers in areas as diverse as physics, logistics and operations research, computing and IT. I believe there are many parallels between these areas and working together could provide amazing and beneficial insights to all fields.
