BRI Seminar Participants From Egypt Inspect Shipbuilding Industry In Fujian

(MENAFN- Daily News Egypt) Fujian, China – The Egyptian delegation taking part in the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) seminar in Fujian Province paid a visit this week to the Fujian Boyang Shipbuilding Industry Co. Ltd, where they toured the company's dockyard and examined the shipbuilding and maritime services operations that form a vital part of China's industrial economy.

The visit was organised as part of the“Seminar on Capacity Enhancement in Investment Attraction for BRI Countries”, hosted by the International Economic Cooperation Center of Fujian Province. The programme, which opened earlier this month, gathers officials from Egypt, Guyana, Namibia, Nigeria, Uzbekistan, and South Africa for a series of lectures, workshops, and field visits designed to share China's experience in creating a competitive investment climate.

At the Boyang facility, Egyptian delegates were briefed on the company's production lines, modernisation efforts, and its contribution to China's maritime economy. The tour included an inspection of the dockyard, where participants observed the scale of shipbuilding operations that position Fujian as one of China's leading coastal industrial hubs. Company officials explained how advances in technology, combined with supportive policy frameworks, have enabled shipyards like Boyang to expand their capabilities and integrate into global supply chains.

For the Egyptian side, the visit carried added significance. With the Suez Canal serving as a global artery of maritime trade, Egypt maintains a natural interest in shipbuilding and port services as drivers of both national and international commerce. Exposure to the practices of Fujian's shipyards provided insights into potential areas of collaboration, particularly in strengthening shipping services, logistics, and the broader maritime economy.

The field visit also complemented the seminar's academic sessions, including a lecture titled“Case Study: Business Environment Requirements for China's Expansion of Trade and Investment”. The lecture outlined how China's business environment reforms have supported expansion in sectors such as renewable energy, new energy vehicles, and cross-border e-commerce. By combining policy discussions with site visits, the programme allows participants to see how such reforms translate into practical industrial success.

Seminar organisers underlined that the integration of classroom learning with exposure to key enterprises like Boyang reflects the goal of providing participants with practical lessons that can be adapted to their national contexts. The visit also highlighted the role of the shipbuilding industry in supporting China's designation of Fujian as the core zone of the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road, a major component of the Belt and Road Initiative.

Delegates were told that shipbuilding not only sustains global trade, but also contributes to technological innovation, employment, and investment attraction. For BRI countries such as Egypt, where maritime trade and connectivity are central to economic growth, the Boyang visit demonstrated the opportunities of aligning national strategies with China's experience in industrial and port development.

As the seminar continues, delegates are expected to take part in further lectures, workshops, and exchanges with Fujian institutions, examining how elements of China's economic model can be localised to strengthen their own business environments. The programme reaffirms the broader BRI principle of extensive consultation, joint contribution, and shared benefits, while underlining the importance of investment attraction and industrial cooperation in advancing shared development goals.
