Fifth Qatar National Arabian Horse Show For Local Bred Concludes

Doha, Qatar: The curtain came down on the fifth edition of the Qatar National Arabian Horse Show for Local Bred, organised by the Qatar Racing and Equestrian Club (QREC), chaired by Hamad bin Abdulrahman Al Attiyah, on Tuesday. The event took place at the indoor arena of the Qatar Equestrian Federation and drew a strong line-up of horses, with owners vying keenly for the top honours.

The horse show for local bred followed just hours after the 5th Qatar National Arabian Breeders Cup Show, also staged in the same arena, marking the launch of the QREC's Arabian horse show season.

The first two days of the horse show for local bred were devoted to qualifying rounds across all classes of the Show.

Based on those results, the highest-scoring horses advanced to the finals in the classes of yearling fillies and colts, junior fillies and colts, mares and stallions.

Salma Al Wajba

The gold medal series began with the yearling fillies, where Salma Al Wajba, owned by SK Arabians, secured first place and the gold medal.

The silver went Miral Albasha of Albasha Stud while Gezlan Al Saad, representing Al Saad Stud, earned bronze. QREC Stables Section Head Saeed Hamad Al Rashdi presented the trophies to the winners.

Barq Umm Aludham

In the yearling colts class, Barq Umm Aludham, from Al GewanStud, captured the top spot and the gold medal, ahead of Shakhat Al Shahania, owned by Mohammed Hamad Al Kaabi, who took silver.

The bronze went to Nahar Abher, representing Abher Stud. Deputy Director of the Show Saad Ali Al Kubaisi crowned the winners.

Farida Mudhar

Among the junior fillies, Farida Mudhar, owned by H E Sheikh Hamad bin Ali Al Thani, impressed the judges to claim the gold medal. Runner-up Sabha Al Khor, from Al Dawasir Stud, received silver while Rose Al Shahania of Al Jaham Stud finished third with bronze. QREC Marketing Department Director Mohammed Ahmad Al Sendi presented the awards.

Essam Mudhar

H E Sheikh Hamad bin Ali Al Thani, owner of Mudhar Stud, returned to the podium once more as Essam Mudhar triumphed in the junior colts class. Najem Al Faisaliah, owned by H E Sheikha Noof bint Faisal Al Thani, took silver, and Bilal Al Jassimya, owned by Mohammed Ali Al Dosari, collected bronze. Director of Services at the Global Champions Arabians Tour Ayed Mohammed Al Hababi honoured the winners.

Elham Al Jamal

In the mares championship, Elham Al Jamal of Al Yusufiya Arabians captured the gold medal with a commanding performance. The silver went to Al Ghariya Al Shaqab, owned by Nasser Mohammed Al Hajri while Madeeha Al Shaqab, representing Sheikh Hamad, took bronze - marking his third medal in the event, with two golds and one bronze overall. QREC Acting CEO Bader Mohammed Al Darwish presented the trophies.

Bahi Al Jaham

The final honours of the championships came in the stallions division where Bahi Al Jaham, representing Al Jaham Stud, claimed gold - the Stud's second medal in the Show following bronze in the junior fillies class. Afas Al Rayyan from Al Sraiya Stud earned silver and Bahi Aljassimya, owned by Mesfer Mohammed AlHajri, took bronze. Show Director Majid Nasser Al Kaabi crowned the winners.
