Over 1,500 Mentally Ill Referred To ARCS: Ministry
KABUL (Pajhwok): The Ministry for the Propagation of Virtue, Prevention of Vice and Hearing of Complaints says it has collected 1,510 mentally ill individuals across the country and referred them to the Afghan Red Crescent Society for treatment and care.
According to the ministry, the initiative is being carried out under a special directive from the leadership, which calls for the identification and transfer of mentally ill individuals - both men and women - to receive proper care.
In an audio message, ministry spokesman Saif- Islam Khyber stated that 1,510 mentally ill persons had so far been gathered nationwide.
He noted that most of these individuals were collected from Faryab and Herat provinces.
The patients have since been referred to the respective provincial offices of the Red Crescent, and those from Kabul were sent to the organization's central office.
