Trump Names Antifa as “Major Terrorist Organization”

(MENAFN) US President Donald Trump declared on Wednesday that he is officially classifying Antifa, a decentralized left-wing anti-fascist movement, as a major terrorist organization.

“I am pleased to inform our many U.S.A. Patriots that I am designating ANTIFA, A SICK, DANGEROUS, RADICAL LEFT DISASTER, AS A MAJOR TERRORIST ORGANIZATION,” Trump stated on his Truth Social account.

In addition, Trump urged inquiries into individuals and groups providing financial support to Antifa’s operations.

“I will also be strongly recommending that those funding ANTIFA be thoroughly investigated in accordance with the highest legal standards and practices,” he added.

The announcement comes after the recent fatal shooting of conservative activist Charlie Kirk in Utah. Although Kirk’s alleged assailant, Tyler Robinson, has been charged with murder, Trump and his supporters have associated the incident with Antifa and other left-leaning groups.

US Attorney General Pam Bondi and Trump’s senior policy adviser, Stephen Miller, have implied that Indivisible, a progressive activist network, and the Open Society Foundations, established by George Soros, could be linked to extremist violence.

Legal authorities have expressed doubts about the practicality of Trump’s designation, emphasizing that Antifa is a loosely structured movement with no central leadership or official membership.

Moreover, the United States currently does not have a statute permitting the classification of domestic groups as terrorist organizations.
