Cars Drives into FBI's Pittsburgh Office in Deliberate Assault
(MENAFN) A man who rammed his vehicle into the gates of the FBI's Pittsburgh field office early Wednesday in what officials are calling a deliberate assault has been taken into custody, authorities confirmed.
The incident occurred at approximately 2:40 a.m. local time, according to a statement from the FBI. No injuries were reported.
The suspect, identified as Donald Henson of Penn Hills, Pennsylvania, allegedly exited his white sedan after the crash, removed an American flag from the vehicle, and hurled it at the damaged entrance before fleeing on foot, per an earlier release from the agency.
Henson was apprehended hours later, the FBI confirmed.
During a press conference, FBI Special Agent in Charge Christopher Giordano described the incident as “an act of terror against the FBI,” according to media.
Giordano also disclosed that “some vulgarity” had been written on the vehicle’s exterior, though he refrained from elaborating. He noted that the message appeared to allude to suicide.
Authorities revealed that Henson had previously served in the military and had been identified through vehicle registration records. Giordano further indicated that the man had recently visited the FBI’s Pittsburgh office to file a complaint, which he described as one that “didn’t make a whole lot of sense.”
The agent added that Henson may have been experiencing mental health challenges leading up to the incident.
